This is a unique opportunity to learn from a great teacher about the difference between real self-defense training and martial arts training as well as learning the legal aspects of self-defense. Who trains at our dojo?

At Community Karate and Fitness we currently have 63 students actively training. Twenty-one students attend kids' classes, 11 are boys and 10 are girls.

There are 42 adults students who are training with us, 26 men and 16 are women. That means 41% of our students are female and 59% are male. Thirty-three percent of our students are kids and 67% are adults.

All classes are taught with the highest level of respect and the perfect amount of patience that each student deserves. Come on in and check out our family-oriented dojo and see for yourself just how much fun martial arts training can be!

Part of our curriculum includes Arnis (stick) training. Students here are practicing "redonda" which is one of the first drills you learn at Community Karate & Fitness. Our Arnis program is incorporated with our karate curriculum at no extra cost to students. Come and join us for great classes and get to know the wonderful students who make our dojo a welcome place to train!

CKC Kids enjoy playing a quick game before each class. It helps to get the energy moving and gets students focused on working hard. Alistair, Kai and Luke built a fort out of kicking shields in a friendly game of dodge ball. Dodge ball encourages teamwork; in order to stay in the game your teammate has to high five you if you get hit. This means that awareness is key to success when we play.

Spring Tournament - SO MUCH FUN!

Thank you to everyone who made Community Karate Clubs' Annual Spring Tournament such a HUGE success! I want to say an extra special thank you to my referees who trained so hard to make sure that all competitors were treated fairly and had fun. Thank you to: Hannah, Ryan, Tabitha, Scott, Rob, Alea, John Michael, Nathan and Belinda - You did a great job!

Karate Classes on January 17th

CKC will be holding classes today starting at 4:30pm. All 3pm and 3:45pm students are welcome to train in the 4:30pm or 5:15pm classes today. Normal schedule for the rest of the week.

Great sparring class!

We had 10 students attend our first Friday Night Sparring Class this evening. What a blast! We did some great blocking drills and then free sparring with each other for the remainder of the class.

Thanks for coming everyone! Remember, no classes next Friday because of the black belt test. We will see you all in sparring class again on January 21 for a great workout and lots of fun.

There is no charge for this class and no rank/age restriction. If you missed this week, plan on coming on the 21st!

November tournament at FKC

Many thanks to Kyoshi Jay Haynes for hosting a very fun and well-organized tournament in November. CKC students showed great respect and determination in kumite, kobudo, kata and stick fighting!

January 15th - Black belt test!

Mrs. Cupples will be hosting Community Karate Clubs very first black belt test on January 15th at noon. Eight candidates will be testing for the rank of Shodan: three adult shodan candidates and five junior shodan candidates.

The test will be overseen by Kyoshi Jay Haynes', head of the Kazoku Karate Budokai. Mrs. Cupples is honored to be part of such a well-respected and supportive organization and is also proud to have other shodan, nidan, sandan & yodan members of the Kazoku Karate Budokai participate as members of the judging panel.

All CKC brown belts are invited to come and watch the test. All CKC students are encouraged to attend the gradutation ceremony at 6pm. The ceremony will take place at Community Karate Clubs, 1825 Dominion Way, 80918. Please mark your calendars; it is going to be a GREAT day!

Lenika shares!

Lenika trains with her Dad and her brother Mason. Their family is an example of what make CKC a great place to train!

Nothing beats a great brown belt class on a Friday night!

Last night we had the last brown belt class before the black belt pre-test next Friday night. We ran through some kobudo, kihon and self-defenses and everyone looked really great!

Community Karate Clubs currently has 17 brown belts actively training! Friday nights at 5:15pm Mrs. Cupples teaches a brown belts only class where we really dig deep into training.

Ben and Luke worked together and made some great progress in "knife on knife" brown belt self-defense set. They know how to work hard and have fun too!

Nathan, a junior shodan, shows maturity & patience while helping out with self-defenses. Nathan is currently training with Mrs. Cupples towards his junior nidan rank.

Cassi and Olivia...two of the most fun and most dangerous young ladies you will ever meet!

New Class offered at CKC!

Have you ever wanted to try karate, but felt a little nervous about taking your first class? You are not alone; lots of people shy away from something new because they are concerned that they might not fit in or they might look silly. At Community Karate Clubs we make sure that you feel like you belong!

Everyone has a "first class" and everyone is a little worried about it. That's why Mrs. Cupples is offering a "Welcome to CKC - Your First Karate Class" to our weekly class schedule. This class will be for new students who have never taken a class at Community Karate Clubs before.

"Welcome to CKC - Your First Karate Class" will be taught in a patient, encouraging and professional manner and will include the following:

1. Meet Mrs. Cupples, owner of Community Karate Clubs.
2. How to bow onto the mat and tie your karate belt.
3. How to perform some basic punches and kicks.
5. Curriculum overview and question and answer period.

Pre-registration will ensure that we have a uniform in your size ready for you to take home!
